Tasman Room

This multi-purpose auditorium has a full theatre style stage and flat floor, and has played host to everything from gala balls and symphonies to business conferences and rock concerts. 

The Tasman Room is versatile and generous in size. It’s been the favoured venue for anything from conferences, meetings and functions, to entertainment and live music events. Featuring a full theatre style stage and flat floor, it lends itself to large scale celebrations. 

With built in bar facilities, the Tasman Room also boasts two dressing rooms and a green room. The room can be ‘dressed in theme’ or decorated to your desires, and the Wrest Point event coordinators work closely with local theming contractors. Let your imagination loose as others have done- converting the room into the Moulin Rouge, Tasmanian wilderness complete with Tasmanian devil footprints, Titanic, Chicago or even a Carnival with fire jugglers and stilt-walkers in the mix. 

The venue has in-built sliding walls and can be configured into three separate meeting rooms, ideal for concurrent sessions and workshops. A removable wall allows the Tasman Room to open onto the Plenary Hall, delivering theatre style seating for up to 1600. 

The Tasman Room is equipped with comprehensive sound and lighting facilities, including large twin screens on either side of the main stage. A hydraulic lift is available for access and positioning of heavy equipment.

Exhibition Foyer

After a room with a view? The Exhibition Foyer commands striking views across the River Derwent and is suitable for exhibitions, cocktail receptions and events seeking an impressive backdrop. 

The Exhibition Foyer enjoys a prime location. With views out across the River Derwent and access to a large balcony overlooking the river and our private jetty, its designed to impress. This foyer sits adjacent to the Plenary and Tasman Rooms and is well designed for exhibitions, poster displays, cocktail events, and breakout sessions. 

The Exhibition Foyer has a portable registration desk, fully equipped for Event Managers and Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs). At the desk, there is plenty of workspace and access to telephone lines and internet. 

The foyer has space to accommodate up to 20 trade booths or display sites. Your guests will have escalator and stair access to the promenade deck of the Conference Centre from this foyer, where additional meetings rooms provide space for concurrent sessions at larger conferences. 

Our event coordinators are happy to talk you through ways that the Exhibition Foyer can be utilised in conjunction with other event spaces at Wrest Point. By day or by evening, the spacious foyer is an ideal venue to display product, host a social occasion or gather conference delegates for a break-out session.

Boardwalk Gallery

If you’re after a venue with waterfrontage, it doesn’t get much closer to the River Derwent than the Boardwalk Gallery- a perfect venue for cocktail receptions, trade exhibits or product launches. 

The Boardwalk Gallery is all about location. Hosting your event here offers the type of waterfrontage where your guests can nearly dip their toes in the River Derwent. Overlooking Wrest Point’s boardwalk and private pier, the gallery lends itself beautifully to social occasions, cocktail receptions, product launches, meals and trade exhibits. 

Located on the Lower Level of the Conference Centre, adjacent to the Wellington Foyer, this ground level location connects you closely with the water. Rather than the sweeping views of the tower or upper level rooms, our Boardwalk Gallery provides an intimate, waterside experience. 

Large automatic doors provide access for a range of equipment including vehicles. The gallery enjoys floor to ceiling windows to capture the view along one side of the venue, whether it be for a working lunch or cocktail hour. Plus, with new carpet and a recent re-paint the Boardwalk Gallery enjoys a fresh new look. 

Please note there are blackout curtains available to accommodate smaller presentations in one section of the room. As always, our event coordination team can discuss options with you, to maximise the Boardwalk Gallery and make it work for your special event.

The Wellington Room is a multi-purpose venue well suited to small and medium conferences, meetings or workshops, enjoying beautiful views across the marina and River Derwent. 

This stand-alone conference room is designed to be a multi-purpose venue, located on the Lower Level of the Conference Centre. If you’re seeking a room with a pleasant outlook, the Wellington Room is ideal. Boasting views across the marina and River Derwent, it’s one of the few rooms that also has a view to Mount Wellington. 

With an adjacent foyer, the room works well as a stand-alone conference venue for small and medium sized gatherings. For organisers who are seeking a meeting or workshop room, or perhaps an exhibition space as part of a larger convention, the Wellington Room is a prime fit. 

Well suited to cocktail functions and social occasions, this room is afforded plenty of natural light. What’s more it can be halved in size or opened out to full capacity depending on your requirements. Designed as two individual rooms with the option to open as one, talk to us about your floor space requirements. 

You’ll find the Wellington Room located beside the Boardwalk Gallery. It can be accessed both internally and externally with an adjacent undercover portico allowing for easy access. With new curtains, carpet and a recent re-paint, the Wellington Room is ready for your special event.

Derwent Room

Wanting a room with arto-deco styling and a stage, portable dance floor and bar facilities? The Derwent Room begs for some old-fashioned fun, located in the original section of Wrest Point. 

The Derwent Room features classic art deco style, and can be found in the original section of the Wrest Point complex. Being fully self-contained, this venue is an ideal fit for dinners, conferences, meetings and cocktail parties for between 30 to 240 delegates. 

Talk to us about the ways this room can be configured. Whether you’re wanting to stage it as a theatre, block table seating, or even a classroom structure, the Derwent Room is adaptable. If you’re looking at a sit-down function, the room can hold a maximum of 240 guests for dinner. 

But what makes the Derwent Room special are a few key features. If you’re on the hunt for a social event venue, with its portable dance floor, stage and bar facilities, the room invites a little fun. Plus, if your event is held during winter months, the original fireplace adds a certain charm and ambience. 

As with other Wrest Point rooms, the Derwent Room can be divided into three separate venues depending on your needs, with built-in sliding walls. As such, it is suited to small and medium sized conferences. With three in-built full sized projectors and screens as well as a recent refurbishment to restore its classic art-deco style, the Derwent Room can’t wait to have you.
